REC! REC 20 MAR 31.

Epsom.

14th March 1891.

Hong Kong Regn No:12619.

Gentlemen,

I tried three of the runs yesterday which can shortly

be despatched to the Colony with their carriages (tripod) but

not their limbers which are not yet far enough advanced. I hope

to be able to report these for shipment next week.

I tried a fourth gun; but the feed box was not perfect-

ly satisfactory & it must therefore be kept back.

All the carriages tried required a trifling alteration

to prevent the belt catching arainst the axle while the "feeding

is going on. The hitch which occured through insufficient space

was not foreseen by the Manufacturers.

The following stores will be required as extras on the

contract with the Maxim Nordenfelt Co

Covers for Breech end of gun

12

(450 cal Maxim auto M.H.)

Porpoise oil in drums each containing 5 gals Covers for muzzle front sight

gals 30

12

Short dragropes

prs 12

The cost of these stores will be altogether about £72

(seventy two.)

I am te,

Sd) E. Harding Steward.
